Hida Black Tea

Japanese-style black tea produced using hot springs water from Okuhida’s hot springs area

In addition to Japanese-style green tea, we have also pursued a unique form of “Japanese-style black tea” which differs Indian and European black teas. After eight years, the result is our Hida Black Tea. We prepare Benifuki tea, which has a strong astringency, by fermenting it using steam from Okuhida’s hot springs. This is an approach unique to us, and produces a crisp taste and moderate astringency, with the faintly sweet aroma of jasmine. Different picking times produce variations in the flavor, which makes this tea ideal for tasting side by side.

The diverse charms of Hida Black Tea

We offer both the first flush of this tea and utilize the second flush in our blends.
